About us

In the heart of the Belluno Pre-Alps, at an altitude of 1,616 metres, below the summit of Col Toront, lies the Rifugio Bristot, which since 29 October 1950 has overlooked the Valbelluna, the Alpago mountains and the peaks of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The structure was designed by engineer Gianni Lanzarini, built by the Cosmo and Giuseppe Fornasier company and named after Angelo Bristot, a silver medalist for military valour. The unique furnishings, still recognisable in the oak tables, were designed by Mario De Donà, a famous artist and graphic-designer.

The first person who managed this reality was the grandfather, Sergio Arban. After a succession of different managements, in ’95 his daughter Giovanna and her husband Lorenzo bought the hut. Now the tradition is carried on by granddaughter Marta. Here love and respect for the mountain environment unite three generations under the roof of the Rifugio Bristot with a simple, authentic and sincere welcome: a special union of tenacity, kindness and reserve.

The mountain hut is not just a resting place or somewhere where you can enjoy a snack or local specialities: it is a space for experience, for getting to know the area, for meeting someone with a story to tell It allows us to understand that feeling part of a place goes beyond what that place is in itself.
It is not easy to explain, but it is all to be discovered.
